Ever since Hoodia Gordonii, came on television through the BBC Report and the 60 Minutes Report, there has been a scramble for this succulent, which grows in the Kalahari Desert. Many companies have launched Hoodia diet supplements, but sad to say about two-thirds of such products are fake. Companies selling poor quality product, or products which contain no Hoodia Gordonii at all, are just in the market for money and care little about the consumer.

There are a couple of tests which a Hoodia diet supplement has to undergo, to prove it authenticity to the consumer. The first of these tests is the Microscopy test. In this test, it is possible to detect the microscopic structure of any material and when applied to the sample of a Hoodia diet product, it can tell if the product contains Hoodia ingredients or not.

The second important test is the TLC (chromatographic) test.  It is based on the fact that each chemical in a sample, resonates with certain frequencies of electromagnetic energy. In this test, the chromatographic profile of the Hoodia diet product sample is checked to find, if each chemical in the sample, matches with the frequencies of electromagnetic energy possessed by Hoodia Gordonii. If it does not, then the product does not contain any Hoodia Gordonii ingredients

The third test is the HPTLC, which is very similar to the TLC test except it is carried out from a different perspective. It too checks if, the chemical constituents in the Hoodia diet product resemble Hoodia Gordonii. If this is not so, then the product is a fake.

Only companies which state that such tests have been passed by their products are putting forth genuine Hoodia Gordonii diet products to consumers.
